brasada ranch :: part VI

Saturday morning we "climbed" up Spirit Rock again for a little adventure and some fresh air. I did not take as many pictures as last time, but got a couple good ones I thought I would share. The sunset images are from Sunday night in the backyard, and for some reason... there was indeed a cowboy hat.

weekend adventures 58

Last weekend I was very thankful for the extra weekend day so that we could get some relaxation in with our adventures.

friday
Work Friday was torture for both me and Pat because we were so excited for our weekend adventures. After stopping for some delicious dinner in Sisters we finally made it to Brasada, grabbed some drinks, sat by the fire, and enjoyed the stars before bedtime.

saturday
We grabbed some breakfast and then went for a little "hike" up Spirit Rock since it was fairly nice outside. It was suuper windy though, so we headed back after a little while to get ready for the concert (which I posted about yesterday). The rest of the night went as follows: Deschutes Brewery, dinner, venue, stand in line, grab a seat, people watching, beer, sunbathing, freezing, porta potty adventure, vodka lemonade, gloves, terrible opening band, people watching, waiting, waiting, waiting, the d, lots of singing along, picture taking, people watching, the end, scramble out of the venue, back to the house, stew, excedrine, sleepy time.

sunday
Pat's family is big on golf, so we decided to go out with them so that Pat could play as well. I also took a bunch of pictures from that and the hike which I will post tomorrow. This took the majority of the day, but, the weather was a LOT nicer than the day before so I had no complaints about being stuck outside. The rest of the day was spent in the resort hot tub, eating a delicious dinner Pats mom made (paiaya), the fire pit, Led Zeppelin, and a random kitchen dance party.

monday
That was pretty much it, Monday was just relaxing, dinner, drive home, bed time.

the d :: part deux

Saturday night we saw Tenacious D at the Bend Amphitheater in the Old Mill District. Neither of us had any idea what to expect. The show was packed, they played a super long set (including everything me and Pat wanted to hear), the banter in between songs was freaking hilarious as one might expect from Jack Black, and the people watching was glorious... seriously... I don't know where these people come from. This was definitely not our standard type of concert, but it was a lot of fun. I only got a couple decent pictures (definitely in the market for a new little camera), but me and Pat took a ton of video with our phones, and the audio actually turned out pretty good.

[[ the only "close" ish pictures i could get because my little camera is a jerk and decided to be broken during the show for no reason. ]]

I am not going to post any of the videos we took because there a large male organ in the background and a lot of swearing, but here is a youtube link if you want to check out some of the songs and silly banter.

the d

In a few short hours me and Pat are heading to Bend for our glorious Memorial Day weekend! (I did not even realize it was Memorial Day and that I therefore get Monday off until two days ago, so I am extra excited for the happy surprise). Our friend Brad, and his soon to be wife Alia are meeting us there for some (hopefully sun-filled) festivities, and of course... a little Tenacious D.

Yes, thats right, Saturday we will be in downtown Bend listening to Jack Black (and KG) "shred some guitar" <--- says Pat. Lets just say he is more than a little excited. When I first got a notification about them performing in Bend I was super surprised because not only do they never tour, but they certainly never pick Oregon for a random show. So this is pretty much a once in a lifetime deal, and Pat is quite fond of Jack Black and all of his crazy antics (and made up words).

I hope the show is a little something like this...

((( The clip is from School of Rock )))
It is in German for some reason... and has stupid words in front of his face... but it is the only one I could find on YouTube and its the one I wanted to use, so, sprechen sie deutsch?

I really wanted to post some pictures I have been working on for Chris and Mandee's wedding last weekend, but I just don't have the time tonight, so, rainy day it is. Mr. Sunshine... can you come back please for this weekend?

weekend adventures 57

Last weekend was so much running around, I do not feel like I have caught a break in a while. It was not your average weekend though... A wedding in Yachats, a brewers festival in Newport, a family dinner in Portland with Leah, and lots of shenanigans.

saturday
We got up early in the morning, dressed, scooped up our stuff and grabbed Hayden before heading off to Yachats Oregon for Pat's step brother Chris's wedding. We took the windiest road ever, but made pretty good time. From arriving it was all chaos for several hours. When we walked in to the hotel, Chris greeted us and we headed towards the room we were all supposed to get ready in. Yes, girls and guys... Me, Pat, and Hayden were all in the wedding, and I was also taking their wedding photos as a favor, so I started snapping some pictures while I waited for the girls to return from setting up the reception area. Finally everyone arrived and we all started getting ready. Poor Mandee (the bride) was completely scattered at first and did not really know where to begin. Since I had already done my makeup before leaving home, and was not too worried about my hair I volunteered to help her get ready by doing her makeup, as well as kicking the boys out to keep things a bit more calm. Eventually, (only a little behind schedule), we were all dressed and ready to go, and began the ceremony which took place outside.

Now, the Oregon coast is not exactly accommodating to notions of warm rain free weather even in the middle of the summer... but to plan an outdoor wedding in the middle of May is balsy to say the least. Luckily for all of us the weather could not have been better. It was warm, overcast or sunny the entire time, and there was virtually no wind. You could not ask for much more.

After the ceremony and some family portraits, I went down to the beach with the bride a groom to take some pictures of just the two of them, and we finished everything up with the wedding party after the ceremony. I felt like I was running around like a mad woman the entire day. Oh wait, I pretty much was.

saturday night
After everything came to a close and the bride and groom went off on their own, me and Pat decided to drive up the coast and stop in Newport at Rogue for some beers and dinner since it was on the way home, and we had been wanting to get over there for a while. I had delicious fish tacos and Pat got a bunch of new beers to add to his Rogue bottle collection. To our surprise it just so happened that there was an event going on at the same time, the 6th Annual Brewers Memorial Ale Festival. Brewer was the brewmasters black lab, so to celebrate his memorial they have a special beer tasting event every year with brews from around the state that you are welcome to bring your four legged companions to. In addition to tasting some delicious beers (and me getting some seriously beneficial over-pours that Pat was very jealous of), there was also live music and a lot of glorious people (and dog) watching. After a few hours we headed home and I finally got some sleep.

sunday
My sister Leah got in to town late Saturday night for a one day layover before heading to Hawaii Monday morning for her friend Rose's wedding. Since she was in Portland all day Sunday, I needed to be as well. So, although I was completely exhausted from stress and lack of sleep from the week before, I got in the car around noon and headed straight to the mall where my sisters were shopping together. It was great to see her if only for a day since it had been since Christmas. Eventually we all made our way to my dads house and made a delicious dinner with the whole family. There was so much food, but most memorably, my little brother Jonathan's girlfriend Tahlia made some delicious Spam Masubi! So yummy!!! During dinner we also sang at the top of our lungs to oldies while my dad recorded us on his phone, posed with peppers on our heads, and quizzed my little sister about the continents... pretty standard for us. Afterwards we decided to ditch the dishes and go for a walk which entailed the littlest girls (and Jenna) with purple mustaches painted on their faces, scooters, a very weird wolf hat, and a lot of awkward dancing around. I am sure the neighbors hate us. I tried to take some pictures but was not really paying attention to my camera settings so a lot of them came out a bit blurry. Finally we went to Dairy Queen for some ice cream before I headed back to Corvallis and finally got some sleep.

oh hey tim gunn

Sorry again for lack of post yesterday. My weekend was crazy busy, and I am still catching up on work from it. To catch up on a bit more from last week here is the portion of my weekend adventures in which I mentioned randomly finding a fashion celebrity in front of me...

Two Saturdays ago, when I was at the mall picking up a few things I turned the corner to find a giant stage set up out in front of Lucky Jeans and Nordstrom with Tim Gunn standing on it meeting people. I thought it was pretty entertaining since I quite enjoy some Project Runway. I did not however stand in line to meet him, 1) because Tiff did not want to and there was no way in hell I was waiting in that thing alone, and 2) most importantly I would never ever want a modern fashion icon to see my chipped finger nail polish! There were definitely some girls who got super dressed up to meet him. I could tell even from off stage that he was genuinely interested in the people he was meeting, even holding an older womans hands while they had a conversation. Thats what I like to see.

"Make it work". <--- I couldn't resist.

sunday funday

This. Week. Was. A. Pain. In. The. Ass. ...I admit it. Seriously one of the busiest work wise I have had in a while, and the projects just kept coming from all sides. Heres to hoping that I get another day kind of like this one from last weekend after tomorrow wedding in which me and Pat are both in the bridal party. If I play my cards right I may even be able to see mi familia, and most importantly, my older sister Leah who is passing through town on her way to a wedding in Hawaii for approximately one day. Fingers crossed.

Here are some fancy schmancy springtastic pictures from last Sunday. I had to keep them in their own post because they were just oh so pretty by their lonesome.

80s prom

Last Friday I went to McMenamins Kenndy School 80's Prom Party with Tiff and Megan. Here are our pictures from the evenings festivities.

weekend adventures 56

Sorry for no post yesterday, my Monday was super busy.
Last weekend was crazy, tons of running around. Dancing, sunshine, prom dresses, and good friends.

friday
Right after work I headed to Portland to frantically get ready for 80s prom. Traffic was absolutely terrible and it took me a full two hours to get to Beaverton, so I really had to rush to costume and makeup to get out the door by the time our limo arrived. Yes, we traveled in style.

The limo ride downtown was definitely one of my favorite parts. We were drinking wine, listening to music, and being silly. Once we got to the venue we headed inside where there were already a bunch of people dancing and a live band playing 80's cover songs. I also appreciated that they were not playing the same Madonna and Michael Jackson songs that we have all heard over and over again on the radio. There was even some Ozzy in there. There was a lot of singing/screaming and dancing.

[[ 80s prom limo ride. ]]

To go with the prom theme they even had wine coolers on the drink menu, as well as a photographer for prom pictures. Unfortunately they expected every single person to pay $5 for their picture, so $10 per couple and what would have been $40 for our group, which I thought was ludicrous since we had already purchased $15 tickets to attend and its not like our drinks were free. So, we missed out on that one.

I had no idea when we initially decided to go to this that we would be the youngest people there! Normally we go to 80's night downtown which is filled with people our age dancing around, but this was all people who actually attended prom in the 80s, which, I personally thought was more fun anyway. Me and Megan were discussing that we should have brought our moms... maybe next year.

After the prom was coming to a close we wandered around the venue and made our way into one of its many bars and restaurants on the property for some dinner. I had originally planned on going out in my 80's garb to meet up with Francisco and Sam, but after all of the dancing and then some food I was exhausted, so we all cabbed it back to Tiff's place and called it a night around 2:30.

saturday
Me and Megan woke up in the morning and headed out pretty quickly to run some errands before driving back down to Corvallis for Rory's going away party. Since it was mothers day and all Sunday I decided to stop by my moms place to visit for a little while. While I was over there we rummaged through some seriously awesome antiques and pictures from Dean's parents attic that I will have to give their own post and share sometime soon. Next it was off to the mall to meet Tiff and Jason for a quick visit so that I could get a bachelorette present for someone. Of course, I ended up picking up a few things for myself as well. I was also surprised to see a certain fashion celebrity when we turned a corner... But more on that in another post.

Once I finally made it back to Corvallis Pat, Tony, Megan, and Brad were already in the backyard playing some yard games and enjoying some sunshine. From there it was all hanging out with Rory and a bunch of his/our friends for the rest of the night and being silly.

[[ saturday backyard time. ]]

sunday
Me, Megan, Pat, and Tony grabbed some breakfast in the morning and then spent the day outside in the backyard soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the warm weather. Me and Megan went for a long longboard ride, and the boys busted out the mini-pools and strawberry margaritas. The rest of the day was  BBQ,  friends,  and sun, and by the end of the day I was exhausted. It was a great weekend.

((( I have pictures from Sunday too, but I want to put them in their own post. )))

I have a ton more photos from 80s night to post tomorrow!
Plus a bunch from Rory's going away party for Thursday...
And, I have a post to do about a certain celebrity that me and Tiff randomly stumbled across at the mall...
